Adoption Cats

New cats are added as they come in to the PAW Society’s Cat Adoption Program. Check back often to see who’s new and who’s been adopted.

Some of the cats are in their younger years with their whole lives stretching before them. Cats in their middle years are in the prime of life with many wonderful attributes and many years yet to give and receive love. But it may also be a senior cat that catches your eye – an opportunity that would allow you to share the best part of a cat’s life. We suggest you choose a cat based on personality, not age or appearance. Read their stories and enjoy!

The lovely cats you see here are not ‘for sale’; they are available ‘to adopt’. When you adopt rather than purchase, you are giving a rescued cat a second chance at life. All of these beautiful cats had previous homes and then for reasons they had no control over, became homeless. We have kept our adoption fee as low as possible and have not increased it from $250 for several years. Our veterinary costs have risen steeply over the years and the adoption fee is heavily subsidized by the Society. In other words, adoption fees help to partially offset expenses such as food, vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, micro-chipping, possible dental work and sometimes other health care (e.g. blood panel, urinary analysis) that a cat may need prior to being offered for adoption. Give yourself a pat on the back for thinking of adopting a rescued cat!

Where do the adoption cats come from?

When you read the individual cat stories, you will find out where each cat came from — to the best of our knowledge. Sometimes there is very little history as PAW’s main focus is the rescue of stray cats. We make up for it by giving you lots of information about what we know about each cat now!

Occasionally, PAW will accept a cat from an owner-surrender situation.

And, although PAW’s focus is on adult cats needing help, from time to time, we may have a kitten available to adopt. Usually they have come to us as orphans.

How can I meet one of the Adoption Cats?

All available adoption cats are living with foster families. Once your application is complete and approved, the cat will come to you for a short visit – usually from one to two weeks. This is called a Foster-to-Adopt. If you have other pets, there will be time needed for integration and that can take longer than the foster-to-adopt period. What is most important is if you feel the cat is right for you. Integrations with resident pets are usually quite successful with time and patience.

If you have looked at all the cats above and cannot decide which one(s) you would like to meet or if you need some guidance on which one would fit in well with your family (including your pets), an adoption counsellor will be happy to make suggestions. You may even be invited to meet a cat who is not yet on the web-site.

When you are ready, contact PAW by filling out an Adoption Inquiry – you will find the button at the bottom of each cat’s story. It’s okay if you don’t know in which cat you are interested, simply state that on the inquiry. We will be most happy to answer any questions you may have about the adoption process or the adoption cats.

What others say about us

Got my son from paws. Roxanne was super sweet and easy to deal with. We took a chance on our sweet fuzzy boy and made the right decision. I would highly recommend paws. They make sure their pets go to the perfect home. It’s a process but it is worth it.

Best rescue society in the city, in my opinion. They care very much for their cats and make all homes are the best possible ones for each individual cat. All adoption fees are subsidized to include all the veterinary care they need before being adopted like vaccinations and spay/neuter, excellent value.

The PAW Society is great. My husband and I️ recently did an art fundraiser for the, and they were so sweet and so grateful for the donation. You can really tell that they care for kitties of all kind.

We found the newest member of our family thanks to Rox. They are so knowledgeable and dedicated to all their kitties.
