Rebus

Color: DSH Black with a bit of white on chest
Age: Born Approx. May 15, 2019
Gender: Male Neutered (tatooed)

History:

Rebus was one of five, five-month old siblings (see Jaycee) seen living behind a business on the north-side of Lethbridge, where there was already a managed feral colony with regular care-givers. The youngsters appeared suddenly, in October of 2019. Plans were made to trap them and all were eventually captured. Though previous cats at the site were returned after they were spayed or neutered, it was thought that this group was young enough to socialise. Three were placed in foster homes, two were returned to the colony due to foster space constraints.

Personality:

Rebus is in a loving and safe foster-home but progress had been slow for the first four years. He is in the Sanctuary category only because of his shyness. These days (fall 2025), though, he rubs up against his foster family’s legs – usually when he’d like a snack but also to say good morning – and accepts pets from head to tail tip. Foster mom picks him up about waist height and walks around with him, to get him used to being elevated. At first it was disconcerting for him, but he’s become used to that activity. He is playful and active and likes to work-out his athletic body with a good run-around. He is friends with Evelyn and asks for affection from (who we call) his sister, Rebecca (from the same colony but not likely related). But he also torments her – typical siblings??  His shiny black coat indicates a healthy boy. He loves playing with a human and a string toy and also scoots around balls and springs on the floor.
